4 STEPS TO A HEALTHIER LIFESTYLE



A healthy lifestyle is built on more than just eating healthy and exercise.


Having a healthy lifestyle means that you feel good and that you are happy.


When you are feeling good and happy you will be more likely to continue doing the action steps that got you there in the first place.


Don’t you think?

So how can you know what things to implement to create your healthy lifestyle? 


1. EAT WELL


Okay, obviously...but what does this mean "eat well"?


With a ton of different diets out there, how do you know which diet is best for you?


I always say that balance and simplicity is key and stay away from fad diets as they are typically NOT sustainable.


Make sure to incorporate all of the major food groups to create a healthy balance of protein, healthy fats, grains, fruits, and vegetables.


2. EXERCISE


When you move your body you feel good!


Finding an exercise regimen that works for you is key.


Just as there is no perfect diet...there is no perfect exercise.


It is the one that fits with your schedule, that you enjoy doing, that keeps you returning for more.


Exercise is extremely important to a healthy lifestyle.


It can increase your mood, improve the function of your heart, increase your energy and can help with weight loss and weight management.


3. GET ENOUGH SLEEP


When you get enough sleep your body is able to repair itself.

If you do not get enough sleep you may feel tired during the day and you may not be able to concentrate as well.


Try to get 7 to 8 hours of sleep each night.


The amount of sleep each person requires is very individual.


Start to track how much sleep you are getting and how you are feeling during the day to discover what the best amount of sleep is for you.


4. HAVE A GOOD ATTITUDE


Have you ever experienced days where you talk yourself out of a workout?  Or, maybe you are feeling stressed so you order french fries with your entree instead of a side salad?


Your attitude is important when you are creating and living a healthy lifestyle.


Challenges will always come up, it is a part of life...it is how we cope with those challenges that make the difference between success and failure.


Don’t let you own negative self talk or that of others throw you off track. And if it does, see it for what it is, and get right back on track with your plans.


Remember you are in charge of you and your choices.


Creating a healthy lifestyle takes time and is a process...but as you incorporate healthy habits into your routine bit by bit, you will be enjoying the benefits that come along with a healthy lifestyle! 


When you are enjoying these benefits, it makes it easier and easier continue to make healthy choices over time.
